  • October 1st is quickly approaching and I couldn’t be more excited. I begin my Christmas Season on October 1st. While I listen to Christmas music all year long, I decorate the inside of my home for Christmas. I put trees up, decorate them, put out some knick-knacks, and so on. On the day I decorate, I light fall and Christmas scented candles, play music loudly or turn on a Christmas movie, and decorate my home. This brings me so much joy and happiness it’s hard to contain. Christmas to me is not about the gifts. It is about the birth of Jesus, spending time with family, the decorations, music, lights, and smells. I love colored lights on the outside of my home. Inside my home, I prefer the soft glow of a white lights. I wish I had a fireplace with a mantle to decorate, but unfortunately I don’t have one in this home. Maybe that is why I prefer the soft white lights. It feels like I have a fireplace with the warm glow. Pumpkin Apple is my favorite fall and Christmas scent. Add some cinnamon and it is a wonderful combination.

Around the Christmas season, there is a buzz in the air. I feed off of this buzz. I am not sure how to exactly put these feelings into words because of how strong they are and how happy I am. One of my favorite things to do during the season, besides putting up trees, is wrapping the gifts. I enjoy making them unique or add bits to them like ribbon, floral materials, etc. Last year, I took up baking around Christmas. Cookies, cakes, and more make my home smell so cozy and warm.

I am very excited to begin my Christmas season in just a few days. This year, I have an office set up in my home. I plan to also decorate this space because of the amount of time I spend in it. I understand others don’t see Christmas the way I do and are not as passionate about it as I am. I am okay with this. Everyone is different and there is a reason. If we all liked the same things, how boring would this world be? Something to remember.
